On several trips to Ireland, I attended sessions in Dingle, Co. Kerry, led by pub owners Eilis Kennedy and John Benny. Eilis is a lovely singer, both in English and in Irish Gaelic, having been born and raised in the West Kerry Gaeltaecht. Bill Margeson, writing in the Irish American News, called her "arguably, the best trad singer in Ireland." In 2003, she was a headliner on a 31 concert tour by Irish musicians of the major concert halls of Germany. Her husband, John Benny Moriarty, plays button accordion. They'll be joined on this tour by William Coulter on guitar, for a program that will intersperse songs with instrumental tunes.
